Where can I find the best deal for my old mobile phone?

In search for the best price, are you the type who generally approaches the most convenient and nearest option in order to get what you want?  Or are you the type who will go to many places and spend time in collecting information before you finally decide?  Do you also check prices and reviews on the internet prior to your visit?

I do conduct my research before I plan to buy anything.  Not only do I look up the manufacturer along with model ratings, but I also see which deal is the best among all.  Only post my research, I head out to the shops with complete information.

Vodafone’s New Video – “Evolution of the mobile” Brings 3D Projection Mapping to Life

If you are able to steal a few extra minutes from your schedule today, head online to have a peek at Vodafone’s latest “Evolution of the mobile” video. It’s just three minutes in length and very cleverly made.

The video is meant to advertise Android OS mobile phones. Employing a new age technique called 3D projection mapping, Vodafone shows an old 1970s mobile handset evolving through different types of models, ending with the modern Android phone. (Just an FYI, iPhone doesn’t feature in this evolution)

How 3D projection mapping functions is that instead of making use of a traditional flat drop screen located behind an object/s, the object/s itself works as the screen. This way the table beneath the mobile works as a screen and the imagery which shows the mobiles buttons being pressed, screens being used etc. are projections too. To achieve such effect, the mobile phones used are all dummies painted white. All that you get to see is projected from above.

As mentioned earlier, the video is promoting Android and thus no Apple products were highlighted. Although this can be perceived as a flaw (we all know iPhone is a revolutionary phone), it is ok keeping in mind the video’s end use.

Please keep in mind that you will have to add ‘Vodafone’ to your search keyword while looking up the video on a search engine. Else you might end up getting an overwhelming number of unrelated search results.

Don’t forget to keep an eye on our cash for mobiles blog for more info on the latest news.

Are Mobile Phones Ruining Our Health?

The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) of USA has discovered that around 95% of citizens in US take help of technological devices such as televisions, mobiles and computers to go to sleep. Some more statistics reveal that more than 50% of US teenagers are not only occupied round the clock with playing games or sending text messages on their mobiles, but a large number of them take their mobiles to bed with them.

I recall the initial few years after I bought my first mobile phone. I used to diligently switch it on and off, the first thing every morning and the last thing every night respectively. However, since past many years, my mobile remains on all round the clock every day. Nevertheless, I don’t go to bed with it. In fact, I don’t even keep it in my bedroom. It is normally kept in the hall. But despite that, it manages to wake up me up in the wee hours every now and then, courtesy some untimely incoming email notifications.

Being so pre-occupied with our mobiles is certainly not good for our health. Besides causing sleep disruptions, obsession with mobile phones can make us socially uninformed, lead to misunderstandings with the people in our environment etc.

I wonder if we’ll ever be able to recognise the negatives of our mobile phones and put a full stop to them. It is high time that we get some quality non-technology time back into our lives. No doubt mobiles are of great use, but sleeping next to them is perhaps taking it a bit too far.

Cash For Mobiles: Your Mobile Gets You Money

Did you know that recycling of old mobile phones has become quite popular in the UK? It indeed is a good development since the pressure on our existing raw resources and space is tremendous and is becoming much worse with the ever increasing population. That emphasizes even a greater need for reusing and recycling.

As Cash For Mobiles, if you choose to recycle your mobile, you earn money for that. The site does not recycle the phones on its own but only provides the comparison figures. How does it work? So if you wish to recycle your old phone, you would basically enter all your phone details, like the make, the model etc on each recycling site. Cash for Mobiles saves you quite a bit of time and effort in doing that. You only need to enter the phone particulars on this site and it does the rest of the job for you by bringing together all UK recyclers, gathering information from them and presenting it to you to choose the best deal amongst all.

It is worth noting that deals vary not just between in-shops and online sites, but also within the online sites too. On one hand, while the shops will quote you only half or little more than what an online site will, the deals vary also due to other factors like the demand and supply for specific handsets.

To get the maximum money for your old mobile phone, you can rely on Cash For Mobiles as it is absolutely unbiased and ranks the deals purely on the basis of prices offered. Cash For Mobiles is a good place to start if you wish to sell your mobile.

What to do with my old phone?

What would you do to get rid of your old mobile phone? There are plenty of choices available:

  • You can throw it in dump yard.
  • You can make an effort to use it as a part-ex deal for a new phone.
  • You can donate it to charity.
  • You can pass it down to someone else to use it.
  • Or you can send it for recycling against some cash.

Well, thinking of all the options mentioned above, dumping your old phone is the worst choice you can ever make. Discarded mobiles create toxic waste in the environment and lead to water and land pollution. While all the other ways are preferable, the most advisable is to recycle your phone and get cash too as an added bonus.

As per the trend observed in the UK, an average person changes his mobile every 12 to 18 months. This is the case with not only the contract users who get a new phone for less every time they sign or re-sign a contract, but also who use the SIM-free versions that have a high upfront cost but are cheaper in the long run.

So considering that the turnaround time for mobiles is so high, one must give a serious thought on its eco-friendly ways of discarding. Even here, you could make a choice between giving your old mobile to a shop on the high street or sell it to sites like CashForMobiles for recycling your phone in lieu of some cash. The latter will surely fetch you more.
