Mobile Phone Market Favouring Samsung and Apple

Believe it or not, it looks like there is some kind of race going on the mobile phone market. To compete for the top rank position amongst mobile phone manufacturers in the UK, Apple and Samsung are battling it out. According to the results of a recent survey, around 50% of the share in the market belongs to Apple and Samsung. To be precise, the two share 53.3% of the market share.

So what makes this Samsung vs Apple battle more interesting? Well, it is about cell phone recycling. When Apple launched the Apple 4S recently, it created waves in the industry and phones started getting recycled at plants in the UK. Amongst the phones getting recycled, there were many used Apple iPhones as well as other brands such as Nokia and Blackberry. Samsung was not high when it came to the list of cell phones getting recycled. Despite that, we still know that its market share is quite high as we can see the number of Samsung phones possessed by the UK residents. This change will lead to more Samsungs getting recycled in one or two years.

While talking about the Samsung phones, there is yet another thought. There is something about Samsung – whether its technology or probably the type of users it has that one does not feel a compelling need to upgrade their Samsung phones constantly. Only when it becomes totally dead, does the owner switch to a newer phone.

Before your Mobile’s Worth Goes Down, Recycle it!

According to statistics, the average resident in the UK upgrades or replaces their mobile phone every eighteen months. Just imagine the number of mobile phones that go to waste, considering the current population of the UK. What this means is that most old cell phones end up in the bin, rather than being processed in a recycling centre, contributing waste that ultimately ends up in a landfill.

Thankfully, there is a solution to all of this waste: recycle your old mobile phone! Not only will it help in protecting the environment, but it will also line your pockets with extra cash; your phone can either be resold or will be disposed of in the correct manner in a recycling plant.

On the off chance you are curious to know how the disposal process works, well – the company generally segregates the various phone components such as batteries and other toxic material to dispose of them in an eco-friendly way. Plastic and other components are melted down so that they can be reformed into new products. Some newer model cell phones can be reused still and bought by someone who needs a cheaper phone or wishes to upgrade from an existing one.

When a mobile phone becomes outdated and cannot be resold, the worth of the mobile phone is completely lost. In these cases, while you will not receive any cash for recycling your obsolete phone, you can rest safe in the knowledge that you are helping to protect the environment.

Mobile Phone Utility Optimized

Mobile phones are mostly designed keeping their visual appeal in mind, but this is not the case with Sonim XP5300 Force 3G, which is more function and usability oriented.

Being an owner of a phone that you can easily work with is more important than having one that just matches your t-shirt’s colour. The Sonim XP5300 is a mobile phone meant for rough and tough guys and girls as it can withstand trials like a drop from two meters height on to a concrete surface or a stay under two meters of water for up to an hour. It has Corning Gorilla glass which prevents it from damage due to shock and scratches. Furthermore, the keys on this phone are spaced out enough for use even with the gloves on. It is evident that this phone was created keeping the workers at road work and construction sites in mind.

The under water survival feature of this phone also makes it the perfect option for moms having small kids. After all, it is quite common to hear stories of young ones dropping their mothers’ phones in water. Last week I heard of a mobile phone dropped in after by a two year old, so it is not uncommon. A tough phone like Sonim XP5300 will also save you from incurring insurance and replacement expenses.

If you have a working phone and have decided to upgrade to the Sonim XP5300, do not forget to have your old mobile phone recycled. Trading it will also fetch you some handy cash that can be used towards the purchase of the new phone.

Galaxy Note – Samsung’s Mobile Tablet Hybrid Launched at IFA

Last Thursday, Samsung introduced it’s hybrid of a mobile and a tablet PC at the IFA, held in Berlin.
The device’s size is almost half of a normal tablet PC and two times the size of a regular SmartPhone. This led to Samsung developing a brand new technology category.
DJ Lee, global head of marketing and sales and executive vice president at Samsung justified this new initiative stating that it is targeted primarily at the market segment that uses small notebooks to jot down ideas. For their use, Samsung has provided a special stowaway stylus to help them in drawing, note taking and screen capturing.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note runs Gingerbread 2.3 and is an Android device. It has a 5.3 inches 1280 x 800 Super AMOLED touch screen. Other features of the device are a removable 2500mAh battery, 1.4 GHz processor, 2MP and 8MP dual cameras, HSPA+ and LTE. Furthermore, it is light (178gms) and thin (9.65mm).
The operating system comes with TouchWiz and 7 home screens that have been designed to make the best use of the stylus (named ‘S Pen’ by the manufacturers). Programmes included in the hybrid are the S Planner, a to-do list app and a native calendar. It is quite easy to drag and drop applications without the need of opening up an entry.
Samsung is not yet certain about the first place that will receive Galaxy Note, so it will be sometime since we know about its availability in the United Kingdom.
